Batman Comics: Detective Comics 871

Detective Comics 871

This may be the best to come

I feel it will do wonders for Grayson's character. This, plus Tony Daniel's fluffier, Lee-lite Batman and the continuation of Batman and Robin (both creative teams considered) are really going to add dimensions to the Dick Grayson Batman. And, really, that's what any good character needs: multiple takes across multiple titles. That's why Morrison's 3 Issue, Different Artist arc structure on Batman and Robin and J.H. Williams shifting styles on Batwoman have been so effective in making the characters likable. They create an entire history in a super-compressed amount of time by imitating and alluding to the various takes on past iconic characters (ex. Batman).

This is what Detective should be. All-star creators telling Bat-family stories. The Rucka/Williams Batwoman and the Snyder/Jock Black Mirror runs should be the norm for this title. It should be the showcase for the absolute best of the Bat-titles. Not necessarily flagship in terms of leading the direction of the line, but flagship in terms of quality.

What do you think ?
